Amanda Nisbet Design

Amanda Nisbet is one of the very first designers I ever learned about and immediately loved. Can you see why?! Her extensive portfolio is so colorful and so fresh that it leaves me practically speechless! Her genius blend of color, pattern and texture make for some incredibly elegant, fun and daring interiors. Not to mention totally livable and comfortable! This hardly puts a dent it in, you must head to her site to see lots more of her incredible designs!

Amanda also recently published her very first book, Dazzling Design. Definitely one for our wish lists this year!

Cool Custom Bunk Room

This space designed by Platt Byard Dovell White Architects and designer Tracy Bross is out of this world cool, when I saw it on Table Tonic I knew you guys would love it too. The room (photographed by Jonathan Wallen) is actually featured in the new book Room for Children: Stylish Spaces for Sleep and Play by Susanna Sulk, a compilation of over 100 stylish interiors ranging from nursery to teen. What kid wouldn't want to spend a night or two in this bunkroom, tucked away in their own private hideaway? And I don't know about you, but I love that turquoise and orange!!!

Romantic Cottage Bathroom

I love me some rustic charm, and this cottage bathroom doesn't disappoint! The 13' peaked ceiling and exposed support structure both painted white?! Hea-ven-ly. But most of all I love that painted floor (Benjamin Moore - Stormy Monday 2112-50 semigloss). Featured in Canadian House and Home (check out the gallery dedicated to white cottages!) this bathroom was also included in the book Pottery Barn Bathrooms. I haven't looked through it in person, but the teaser images on Amazon were enough to make me add it to my wish list. Hello, 87 used & new from $1.48!

Your Favorite Turquoise Paint Colors?

Palladian Blue by Benjamin Moore - image via Simplified Bee

Waterfall by Benjamin Moore - image via Brooklyn Limestone

River's Edge by Behr - image via Alicia Paulson

Aqueduct by Sherwin-Williams - image via Color Sizzle

Rainwashed by Sherwin-Williams - image via Rabaut Design Associates

Robin's Nest by Benjamin Moore - image via Me and Wee

Sea Wave by American Tradition - image via Apartment Therapy

I'm constantly asked what my go-to paint colors are, and it's so hard to say because I actually have no experience painting...the definite disadvantage to renting! It's beyond me why I didn't think to do this sooner, as in YEARS ago, but better late than never. I need your help! In the comments, I'd love it if you could share your favorite turquoise-ish paint colors. Bonus points if you link to images either from your home, or anywhere else you've seen it used!

My loyal reader Mustang got us started:
  • True Turquoise by Glidden
  • Cool Aqua and Poolside Blue by Benjamin Moore
  • Aqua Chiffon by Olympic Paint
  • Nifty Turquoise by Sherwin Williams
  • Beach Sparkle by Valspar
If you don't have a personal favorite, tell me which paint color from the pictures above you like best!

Thanks you guys, I can't wait to hear what you have to say...this is going to be awesome! :)

The Vintage Table

The lovely Lynn of Paris Hotel Boutique recently introduced us to the most beautiful book called The Vintage Table by Jacqueline de Montravel and the editors of Romantic Homes Magazine. (Lynn herself was actually featured in the book...so exciting!! Congrats Lynn!) The absolutely breathtaking image you see above was also featured in the book. The Southern California ocean view deck belongs to Lucy of My Paris Flea Market. To spend only one afternoon out there would be complete bliss!! For more of a sneak peek into the book, head over to Paris Hotel Boutique!

All About Blue with House Beautiful

If you're me and you see a cover like this in your mailbox, you know it's going to be a good day.

Then you read the editor's letter only to find that Stephen Drucker mentions your little old blog?

Now THAT, my friends, is a fantastic day!
Isn't that a hoot?! I can't get over it!

Seriously though, if you like blue/turquoise even a little bit, you're going to drool endlessly over this issue. It's jam-packed with so much eye-candy I can hardly stand it. Not only that, but I know many of you will appreciate the color section where they go over which blue paint colors designers use the most. All those yummy paint swatches are making me crazy to get out of my rental! If you're even thinking about painting, definitely grab this issue.

Last but not least, that stunning cover features a room designed by none other than Tobi Fairley. If that image alone won't entice you to check out this blue issue, I don't know what will! Maybe the fact that her project received a 10-page feature inside?! Here's a sneak peak I took off her blog. I know how much you all love the Marjorie Skouras chandelier!

So thanks for the mention, Stephen Drucker! Rest assured the first thing I'm doing when I visit Paris is heading over to rue Jacob to check out that shop! It sounds truly magical.

At Home With White

So there's only a tiny bit of blue/turquoise in these beautiful images I discovered on The City Sage, but that's the point. These photos come from the book At Home With White by Atlanta Bartlett. I never really saw too much appeal in a mostly white room (I LOVE color!), but ever since spying Wren's nursery (and Holly's gorgeous home!) from Life in the Fun Lane, I am completely drawn to it. Little bits of color make such an impact. And I love that.
