Honeymoon??

Right now it's -10 degrees outside here in Minneapolis (but feels like -30). And this weekend we experienced a record-breaking blizzard.....with over 17 inches of new snow. Fun. Stuck inside, we couldn't help but daydream about our upcoming honeymoon in April. We haven't decided on a destination yet. The only requirement: turquoise water. (Shocking, right?) How absolutely fabulous would it be to stay in the Maldives, at the exquisite Anantara Veli Resort & Spa?! My goodness.

I'm dying to ask you guys...where have you been with dazzling turquoise water?? I'd love your two cents!

Shinn Estate Farmhouse in New York

During part of our 10 day stay in New York, Chris and I spent two nights on Long Island's North Fork, a lovely area filled with vineyards and cute little villages. I discovered the Shinn Estate Farmhouse in Mattituck when researching places to stay. Not your typical bed and breakfast, this place is seriously stylin'. Modern and elegant, I didn't see a granny floral print anywhere! This was our room above. The walls!! Cameras just don't capture how fab the color was. And the wooden floor was painted blue!! How lucky could I get?! Boy was I excited. The bathroom was amazing too. The glass shower, basket weave tile, vessel sink...I wanted it all. And the furnishings were just the beginning. The restored farmhouse is located on a beautiful vineyard, all so peaceful and quiet. As guests, we were given a complimentary tasting of their wines, which were fantastic. And the breakfast...wow...gourmet all the way and made entirely with local ingredients. The owner Barbara was awesome too, really went out of her way to supply us with resources for when we were in NYC. If you guys are ever on Long Island, I definitely recommend touring the vineyard or staying at the B&B. Head here for more info, and to see photos of the other gorgeous rooms!

Soho House Berlin

Today we're in Germany at the decadent Soho House Berlin, designed by Susie Atkinson. The 40-room boutique hotel is located in an old department store building, which was seized to be the home of the Hitler Youth base during WWII, and later the headquarters of the East Germany Communist Party. Talk about a colorful past! I'm loving the herringbone parquet floors and all that velvet. The headboards are so grand! And what about the spectacular event space, The Politbüro?! Holy mackerel! Promise me if you ever have a party here, I'm invited!

Capri Tiberio Palace

If only I could hop over to Capri twice in one month in real life too! Today we're back on the beautiful island, this time visiting the beautiful hotel Capri Tiberio Palace. This chic five-star boutique hotel just received a stylish makeover by fashion designer turned architect Giampiero Panepinto. These photos taken by Giulio Oriani were recently featured in Elle Decoration as well as Men’s Mentore. I love how they're all touched by the turquoise reminiscent of the amazing views off the private balconies. Have any of you ever been to Capri?? It looks like an incredible place to visit! (And I wouldn't mind to spend my nights here either!)

Cayo Espanto

If it wasn't for the internet, I'd never know that places like this exist. That's good and bad, because now I want to go. REALLY bad. But alas, my blogger's budget just doesn't allow for tropical vacations on private islands. Cayo Espanto, located in the western Caribbean off the coast of Belize, is a four-acre private-island resort with only five villas and one over-water bungalow. Each private villa has its own covered deck and freshwater plunge pool, in addition to its own pier and chaise lounges. But my favorite amenity? The spectacular views of the turquoise waters. Just seeing the photographs make me happy. And that's good. Thanks, Internet. :)

Jnane Tamsna

Today I'm talking you all the way to Jnane Tamsna, a luxe hotel in Marrakech owned and designed by Meryanne Loum-Martin. All 3o bedrooms feature a fusion of Oriental, African and European influences, while utilizing natural materials, traditional techniques and dark and light textures. The outdoor setting just sounds heavenly, as the hotel is actually a collection of individual houses spread out in a garden. Some rooms even feature a private roof terrace with views over the kasbah to the Atlas mountains! Who wants to have a little meet up in Morocco?! I call this room! ;)

Heart's Delight

I was blown away by beauty when Kristi of lovelyvélo directed me to her post featuring these gorgeous images filled with my current favorite color combination/obsession. The E.J. Sooley House is a 1930's coastal home at Heart’s Delight, Trinity Bay in Newfoundland. It was profiled last summer by Canadian Home and Country Magazine, but you can see more images of the property (including the ocean views!) at the their website. CapeRace Cultural Adventures is a 10-day touring program of Newfoundland that lets visitors explore the unique characteristics of the province by staying in homes owned by the Sooley family (this is one of three). I can't think of any better way to experience Newfoundland!
