La Samanna Villas

Wow! You guys gave us some amazing ideas yesterday!! Thanks a million for all of your feedback, we so appreciate it! So many of you said how incredible the Caribbean is. I'd die, I swear to you, being somewhere like the La Samanna Villas on the island of St Martin. The extraordinary view of the Caribbean Sea would be the end of me! Not only is the view breathtaking, but the interiors designed by Marc Michaels are so elegantly comfortable, I can't believe it's not someone's home. I love how our favorite color is paired with oranges, reds, pinks and greens...for "a true Caribbean spirit"! If that is the spirit of the Caribbean, I'm so there!

Aqua Nursery And Live Coral

Yes. YES. This is how you do a nursery people! I stopped dead in my tracks when I spotted this room on Two Tall Blondes. Lucky little Vivi is the daughter of Joni, the talent behind Chocolate Butterbean. Her custom signs and stationary are amazing, so really it's so surprise to me that she churned out such a cool space (and a cool new nursery inspiration blog...). If you're like me, you neeeeed to know what colors we have here. Valspar Aqua Glow on the walls, and the ceiling is a lighter shade of the same color, Valspar Grand Hotel Mackinac Blue. Those colors and the b&w chevron rug really tie the eclectic space together in such a sophisticated way. See and learn more right here!

Honey Collins

This delightful 1903 Shingle Style home in Massachusetts's North Shore photo of Michael J. Lee also design and elegance of New England to the case of the Old South The challenge for designers of interior decoration Honey Collins face in this classic New England house was to comply with the formalities associated with the same time, it feels hot, exciting and fresh. I like the combination of models everywhere, and the perfect combination of subtle and bold colors. "Landing Room" is great, I'd like to have a space for this.

Guest Blogger: Lauren from Pure Style Home

Hello House of Turquoise Readers! I'm Lauren Liess of Pure Style Home and I'm so excited to be visiting Erin's beautiful blog today. I love coming here to get a good dose of one of my favorite colors. (Seriously, she needs to do a book of the blog!!) Anyway, since I figured there would be no way to round up a turquoise room in cyberspace that Erin hasn't already featured (how does she keep doing it?! ;) I thought I'd share some turquoise rooms I've designed. The picture above is of the little conversation area around the wood-burning stove in our family room. (Below is also in the same room) We painted the walls a fresh aqua (FreshAire Choice's Midwest Springs) to make the space happy & light.

The attice bedroom below features a pale sea-greeny-aqua... The old chair inspired the palatte and the back of the built-ins got a pale coat of paint to match.

The room below was a project I worked on with fellow designer Rebecca Ilginfritz of Acanthus & Acorn for charity. It was a women's shelter we made over. We painted the walls a soft aqua {Behr's Celtic Blue} because of its restful qualities. We knew the mother who lived in the room with her two children would appreciate a calming space.

The living room below is painted in another pale aqua-green-gray paint (Behr's Mountain Haze} and it was paired with soft beiges and golden peaches for an airy yet warm feeling:

And finally, I have a picture of a client's in-progress project. {As you can see, we're still waiting on all of the rugs, accessories, lighting & curtains to be installed but I thought the walls were too perfect not to share!} I love the fresh green-blue contrasted with the orange floral sofa.

I love how different shade of turquoise can make a room feel so many different ways. -fun, tranquil, happy, etc.- Anyway, thanks so much for having me here Erin & I hope you're having an amazing time!!

Emily Gilbert

I love the warm yet refined vibe of this room captured by Emily Gilbert, a photographer out of New York City. (Remember these rooms?? Her talent too!) This space was actually part of the New Jersey designer showhouse Mansion in May and was designed by Christine Thompson. I love the ribbon detailing on the sofa, and how it's mirrored in the stripes on the painting above. All of the molding is absolutely breathtaking too!

A bit of sad news to share today. Last week my grandma passed away, so I'm headed down to Iowa today to say goodbye, and to celebrate her life with my family. My grandma has always been a huge inspiration to me in countless ways, and I'm so grateful that she lived to be 90. She will always continue to inspire me, but I'm going to miss her so much...

I'll see you guys back here on Friday.

Ashlee Raubach & Caitlin Wilson

More orange and turquoise goodness today compliments of the incredibly talented (and super sweet) photographer Ashlee Raubach. Over the course of the year she's become one of my absolute favorite photographers. (Just follow her blog, and see my posts here and here and you'll immediately see why!) I was so excited to her photos of this fresh and vibrant space by interior designer Caitlin Wilson. She really captures the beauty in the details, don't you think?? The mix of colors and patterns is fantastic here...the Celerie Kemble fabrics make my heart ache! Caitlin also has a blog called Caitlin Wilson Design: Style Files just loaded with great info and beautiful eye candy. Trust me, we need to following these talented ladies!

Turquoise & Orange with Tobi Fairley

Gosh you guys, thank you all so much for the kind birthday wishes!! Your comments just made my day. I had a great weekend celebrating, and still have more left to do this week! I love stretching out my birthday! :)

When I first saw these rooms designed by the always-inspiring Tobi Fairley in Traditional Home, it felt nothing short of a fabulous early birthday gift. Photographed by Nancy Nolan, this bedroom and sunroom were part of an eco-friendly charity showhouse in Arkansas. While Tobi has never been shy to pair turquoise with orange, I'm just loving how vibrant and cheery it is here. It's awesome to know she used a mix of new and recycled furnishings (behold the magic of low-VOC paints!) and organic fabrics. I've been drooling over that aqua Rubie Green fabric forever, it's just perfect here on the sofa and draperies! To read all about the rooms, head over here!

Morgan Harrison Home

I first fell in love with Michelle Morgan Harrison Home, a design firm based in New Canaan, CT, when I saw this beach home (last few pictures above) so long ago. I think I can actually credit Michelle for my first taste of the scrumptiousness that is aqua and orange. She recently re-launched her website, and it's filled with many more fabulous images filled with fabulous color. How stunning is the room with the peacock palette?! I'm especially loving the chair upholstered in Schumacher Chiang Mai Dragon! Lets see it again, it is that great. ;)
