Happy Labor Day!

I just had to bop in today to share with you this cool bedroom photographed by Gilles Trillard for Elle Decoration. Guess who it belongs to?? Jonathan Adler, of course! I have to admit, I'd never think to use that color on the walls with turquoise and orange, but it serves as the perfect background for all the bold color. And all the pattern! I am really digging the David Hicks carpet combined with the damask. And the colorful LeRoy Nieman plates are so fab too! Enjoy the holiday everyone!

Mabley Handler Interior Design

Last week you all LOVED the seafoam bathroom by Mabley Handler Interior Design so much, I thought I'd share more from their portfolio. After seeing the photos, it didn't surprise me to learn that Jennifer Mabley and her husband Austin Handler focus their design business on projects in the Hamptons. I like what Jennifer had to say in Hamptons Magazine: "A lot of our clients have similar needs for their homes, but are coming from different points of view. Some are trying to capture a feeling from a summerhouse they rented. Some people want a house where they can do a lot of entertaining; some want a house that's very private...But they all want the same thing: to be able to relax and enjoy." In the Hamptons or anywhere else, isn't that really what we all want? To see more of their beautiful work, head here!

Cool Custom Bunk Room

This space designed by Platt Byard Dovell White Architects and designer Tracy Bross is out of this world cool, when I saw it on Table Tonic I knew you guys would love it too. The room (photographed by Jonathan Wallen) is actually featured in the new book Room for Children: Stylish Spaces for Sleep and Play by Susanna Sulk, a compilation of over 100 stylish interiors ranging from nursery to teen. What kid wouldn't want to spend a night or two in this bunkroom, tucked away in their own private hideaway? And I don't know about you, but I love that turquoise and orange!!!

Rustic Spanish Kitchen

We're taking a mini-vacation to Spain today! My heart skipped a beat when I spotted this rustic kitchen on Mi Casa Revista. The incredible beams, and the distressed aqua cabinets and table against all the coral...simply beautiful! And speaking of Spain, congrats on winning the World Cup! So exciting!

The Magic Brush

One of my favorite places to visit in the blogosphere is The Magic Brush, Inc. where the incredibly talented (and always hilarious) Jennifer showcases her gift for faux finishing. She's a true genius with a paint brush. Case in point: this gorgeous turquoise island. Both Jennifer and Kierra (the owner) say it's even more beautiful in person. Seriously?! I am really digging that wallcolor too, I'm obsessed with reddish orange right now. Like me, Jennifer loves turquoise and uses it for a lot of projects...her studio is even painted one of my favorite colors, Waterfall by Benjamin Moore. To see more of this island, and all of her other amazing projects, head here!

Brooke Steuart

When I spotted this vacation home belonging to designer Brooke Steuart on the blog Low Tide High Style, it was the turquoise island that immediately caught my attention. After that initial shock passed, I noticed so many other details that make this a true dream kitchen. Love the bursts of orange and turquoise accessories, the glass tile on the backsplash and stairs, the collection of shells displayed in the island...not to mention the Viking appliances! Isn't it all so pretty lit up at night too?! To see even more of this beach home, head over here!

Shangri-La

I am completely captivated by Shangri-La, the newest collection from Thibaut. The Jakarta printed fabric and Ivana wallpaper in the first two images...seriously...stunning. I wish I could transport myself into that bedroom, plop down on one of those comfy beds and just take it all in. Absolute beauty there, folks.

America's Choice: Turquoise and Orange

Turquoise and orange is certainly a cheery pairing, one that I would never have thought up on my own! I love that it can be used in so many different design styles, as you can see from the huge range of rooms above. Whenever I see it though, I automatically think of Howard Johnson's because of this quote by designer John Willey in House Beautiful: "Don't take this the wrong way, but that room reminds me of 1960s Howard Johnson's colors — that wonderfully intense orange and aqua — but modernized a bit. It's such a terrific vintage palette and I have to admit, I love orange."
