Student Residence, Commercial Spaces Provide A Buffer Against An Intimate Hideaways In Residence In Paris, New

Student residence, shared space provides a buffer between intimate hideaways of the new college designed by LAN Architecture is located in Paris, France. The façade overlooking the busy street, dressed in dark, slate-colored walls, while the Plaza area is covered with larch planning folding shutters. All surfaces in the courtyard are encapsulated within the flexible material.

An essential element of this construction was the creation of rooms for students who could make their own decisions, with natural light and space for social life. Therefore, all panels are oriented to receive sunlight to work actively with large windows facing the courtyard and common areas like hallways become "collective spaces where social gatherings could occur." All rooms are 18 square meters of space, on average, a kitchen and a bathroom.

Southern Highlands Reader's Home

Oh to call this home! The serene space actually belongs to my reader Ali, who lives in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales (about 2 hours south of Sydney). Ali is a stay-at-home mom of 3 little ones (in addition to being an aspiring designer!) who is obsessed with the bluey/greeny/grey colors we all can't get enough of. They recently built the home of their dreams in the country, but sadly have to move back to the city for a wider choice of schools for their son with Aspergers Syndrome. Gosh, I wish I lived in Australia right about now because their home is now up for sale. To see the listing and for more photos, just head here!

And with that, I wish you all a fantastic Halloween weekend!!! Be safe!

Garry Mertins

Dream bath alert! Little Rock designer Garry Mertins created this soothing spa-like retreat that was featured in At Home in Atlanta and photographed by Nancy Nolan. I love that a custom wall color was created to match the existing tile. (I always get so sad when people want to get rid of turquoise tile!) My favorite feature here, other than the color, is the overflowing soaking tub. What I'd give to fill my bathtub up to the brim and soak away the day! Read more about this tranquil space here!

I cannot thank you guys enough for all the comments and emails yesterday! I was on Cloud 9 all day long, couldn't stop smiling! Your kind words only made me that much happier! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! :D
