Fresh from Nantucket

Dream home alert! This gorgeous Nantucket home was designed by Brooks & Falotico and Lynn Morgan Design, and was featured in Connecticut Cottages and Gardens. Like me, the wife's favorite color is turquoise, so the color was used liberally throughout the home. We should all be so lucky! And talk about lucky, that Egyptian hand-blown glass chandelier like the one in Sarah Jessica Parker's Hamptons home. What a stunner!

Cantilever Design

Back when we found out that Pantone chose turquoise as the color of the year, Nursery Notations had a fantastic post devoted entirely to turquoise children's rooms and nurseries. (You know where you're going straight from here, right?) This lovely room designed by Karman Ng of Cantilever Design, belonging to his little 4-year old daughter, was one of my favorites. The home actually won the Metropolitan Home 2009 Met Home of the Year. Check out the rest of the home here, and Karman's blog here!

Valentine's Day Inspiration

Neza Cesar
I hope you don't mind the addition of non-design related photographs here, but I had some of these yummy images bookmarked and felt this would be a great time to share them! There's not much I love more than turquoise being paired with red....but throw a little chocolate into the mix and I'm in huge trouble! I hope everyone has a très romantique Valentine's weekend!

Bonesteel Trout Hall

I was so pleased to learn about the Southern California interior design firm Bonesteel Trout Hall from Ashlina of Secrets of Domestic Bliss. Apparently their projects have been in a bunch of our favorite magazines...and I can see why just from these images! What I love about these in particular is that the color is more of an accessory to the rooms. Though there is a lot of turquoise floating around, you still get a very natural, neutral vibe. Love all that stone! (I wonder how many posts I can do in one week with that chandelier?!)

On a personal note, I want to say a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my dad! He's been such a huge supporter and fan of this blog (and always wears the turquoise shirts I buy for him!) Here's a picture from Sunday (yes, he's sporting the sweater I got him for Christmas!)

Happy Birthday, Dad!

All About Blue with House Beautiful

If you're me and you see a cover like this in your mailbox, you know it's going to be a good day.

Then you read the editor's letter only to find that Stephen Drucker mentions your little old blog?

Now THAT, my friends, is a fantastic day!
Isn't that a hoot?! I can't get over it!

Seriously though, if you like blue/turquoise even a little bit, you're going to drool endlessly over this issue. It's jam-packed with so much eye-candy I can hardly stand it. Not only that, but I know many of you will appreciate the color section where they go over which blue paint colors designers use the most. All those yummy paint swatches are making me crazy to get out of my rental! If you're even thinking about painting, definitely grab this issue.

Last but not least, that stunning cover features a room designed by none other than Tobi Fairley. If that image alone won't entice you to check out this blue issue, I don't know what will! Maybe the fact that her project received a 10-page feature inside?! Here's a sneak peak I took off her blog. I know how much you all love the Marjorie Skouras chandelier!

So thanks for the mention, Stephen Drucker! Rest assured the first thing I'm doing when I visit Paris is heading over to rue Jacob to check out that shop! It sounds truly magical.

Effervescent Bathroom

My favorite thing about this bathroom designed by Molly Frey is the Effervescent Chandelier from Anthropologie. Sadly, it's not for sale anymore, but oh how I lusted over it! So neat to see it in a real room. And what a great bathroom too. Love that tile, and how the sinks are on opposite walls. So balanced and symmetric! And the pretty doors?? How fabulous would it be to open them up while drying your hair or doing your makeup. My bathroom always gets so hot!

My favorite part of visiting ABC Carpet and Home while in NYC was definitely staring up at all their stunning chandeliers. I'd never seen so many droolworthy ones in all my life! I knew right then and there I'd die a happy woman if I ever have one dangling in my home! Aren't these just something else?? Seriously my photos don't even do them any amount of justice. The first one below is my favorite. One day it WILL be mine! :)

One more shot of my baby. (It deserves all of your attention.)

And with that, I hope you all have a magical New Year's Eve! Be safe, have fun, and see you back here on Monday as we ring in the beginning of 2010...all signs point to it being the best year ever! ;)
